Privacy Policy

About this policy

This policy takes effect on 10 December 2026 and explains how VeinTech handles your personal information.

VeinTech Pty Ltd (ABN [insert]) ("VeinTech", "we", "us") is a Perth-based medtech company developing ultrasound technology that makes peripheral IV cannulation easier and safer. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy covers personal information we collect through our website and online store, our products (including Felix and Phoenix Phantoms), clinical research, events, recruitment and our work with partners, customers and investors.

If you take part in one of our clinical studies, you will also receive a participant information form. Where that form differs from this policy, the form applies to that study.

Where it is lawful and practical, you can deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym, for example when making a general enquiry.

What personal information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It may include:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone number, postal address, organisation and job title.

  • Health information: ultrasound images and measurements captured using our devices, cannulation details, medical history, age and sex.

  • Research information: information you give us as a clinical study participant.

  • Order and payment information: details of products you order or preorder, delivery details and billing information. Card payments are processed by our payment provider and we do not store your full card details.

  • Website and technical information: your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and how you found our site.

  • Event information: registration details and any dietary or accessibility needs you tell us about.

  • Recruitment information: your resume, qualifications, references and interview notes.

  • Business information: details of investors, partners, distributors, suppliers and collaborators and their representatives.

Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We only collect sensitive information with your consent, or where the law allows or requires it.

Sometimes we collect information from others, such as a hospital, healthcare provider or research partner involved in your care or a study, a recruitment agency or referee, or an event ticketing platform. Where we do, we take reasonable steps to make sure you know about it.

Our website also collects some information automatically through cookies and analytics tools.

We use personal information to:

We require these parties to protect your information. We do not sell personal information, and we never use your health information for marketing.

Automated decision-making

Some of our activities use software to analyse personal information and help make decisions. This section explains where that happens, as required by APPs 1.7 to 1.9.

These rules apply where a computer program uses personal information to make a decision, or to do something substantially and directly related to making a decision, that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect a person's rights or interests.

Decisions a computer program helps to make

  • Which vein to use for IV cannulation

    • Software analyses the ultrasound image and highlights suitable veins. A trained clinician reviews the image and decides where and whether to cannulate.

    • Personal information used includes ultrasound images and vein measurements

  • Whether an applicant moves to the next stage of recruitment

    • LinkedIn's AI tool reviews and ranks applications against the selection criteria. A member of our team reviews every application and makes the shortlisting decision. No applicant is rejected by the AI tool alone.

    • Information used includes resume, cover letter, answers to screening questions, qualifications and work history. We do not use AI to assess age, sex, cultural background, disability or other personal characteristics that are not relevant to the role.

Decisions made solely by a computer program

We do not make any decisions about individuals solely by computer program. A person is always involved in decisions that could significantly affect you.

Your options

If you would like to know more about how a decision involving you was made, or you would like a person to review it, contact our Business Enablement Manager using the details below. You can also ask to access or correct the information used.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers, such as website hosting, payment, cloud storage and email platforms, may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We also work with partners in the United States and may share business contact details with them. We may share de-identified or coded research data with research collaborators overseas, where an ethics committee has approved it.

Before we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it in line with the APPs.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires. Clinical research and medical device records may need to be kept for 15 years or more. When we no longer need information, we destroy or de-identify it securely.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact our team and we will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for making a request.

In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access. If we do, we will tell you why in writing.
